Hofner Pohlert 4578TZ Jazz Guitar Lyre Tail Piece 1960's Nickel Chrome

This is a very rare item with only a few in existence, they never come up for sale separated from their original guitar, these guitars are now very desirable to collectors.

Werner Pohlert was a top Jazz Guitarist in Germany. He taught and performed professionally and was widely recognised, so much so that Hofner in the 60's decided design a guitar with his name on it. Hofner made him a Jazz Guitar to his specification and his ambition of having a guitar named after him - it was named the "Pohlert Jazz Guitar". These guitar were made in very limited number for Pohlert and his students, and Pohlert used this guitar for teaching and performances. You will find the full story in the excellent "Justjazzguitars" website.

The Pohlert models were based on the Committee Thinline of the period with an engraved Pohlert Escuthion Tailpiece - there were only 6-8 of these guitars made. Hofner also made a Burgandy President with an engraved Pohlert engraved Lyre Tailpiece - this too was made in limited numbers. In 1969 Hofner issued this model as a 4578TZ, built in very limited numbers and was only available for a limited time.

This tail piece is in excellent condition and is fully functioning - like the standard escutheon tail pieces on the Committee the Polhert version was probably made by ABMuller in Germany.
